The difference between vacationing and living somewhere is time and neighbors. You have the time to find and really enjoy your favorite stores, restaurants, and museums without worrying about leaving too soon. For instance, on vacation I try to be pretty precise about what I will do each day. The itinerary is set up with room for hiccups.
When living somewhere I like to wander more, make mistakes, get lost. I also like to work! This means, unlike while vacationing, I will have dedicated days to working while living in a new place.
I like getting to know my neighbors or new favorite hangouts. I like to say “Ciao” to the same people more than once a week. Going to a local “salon” and hearing the Florence blogger Georgette Jupe from Girl In FlorenceĀ was an example of getting out and meeting people who call Florence their home.
I think I was able to embrace time and my neighbors in Florence. Here are some pics of when we made Florence a place to live, not just a place to vacation.
